Fashion mogul and “Project Runway” star Tim Gunn will be speaking on campus at 3 p.m. on Feb. 22. Gunn is one of many featured speakers coming to Georgia State this month.

Whether you’re looking for an opportunity to learn more or just a reason to relax, many exciting events are coming up at Georgia State this month to cater to your whims.

On Feb. 16, at 2 p.m., Merl Reed, professor emeritus of History, will be signing copies of his book “Educating the Urban New South: Atlanta and the rise of Georgia State University, 1913 - 1969.” This will take place on the eighth floor of Library South.

With the current economy, many of us have questions about the future. On Thursday, Feb. 18, you can get those questions addressed. At noon, the Economics Club of Georgia State University will host a discussion called “The U.S. economy in 2010: Recovery” Georgia State Economists Dr. Carter Doyle and Dr. Bruce Kaufman will be discussing their opinions about the U.S. economic conditions for the upcoming year.  This will be a question and answer session, so if you’d like to have your questions answered send them beforehand to gsueconomicsclub@gmail.com.

If talk about the economy has you down, then unwind with the Georgia State jazz band later that night. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Florence Kopleff Recital Hall, you can enjoy a concert with special guests Bepi D’Amato on clarinet and conductor, Marco Renzi. General admission is $15 but students may attend for $5 with a student ID.

Project Runway’s Tim Gunn will be at the Student Center Ballroom on Feb. 22, at 3 p.m. Following his presentation students will be able to ask the style guru questions. Afterward, he will be available to sign copies of his book, Tim Gunn: A Guide to Quality, Taste, and Style.

The events mentioned are just a few of many offered throughout the month.  For more information on what’s going on in February and months to follow, go to gsu.edu and click on the “calendar” tab on the top right.
