As Georgia State’s last spring homecoming activities have wrapped up, there are still plenty of events occurring for student involvement, thanks in large part to the Spotlight Programs Board. The Spotlight Programs Board is the official programming board for Georgia State, and is part of the Division of Student Affairs.
At least once a month the Office of Campus Events tries to present an interesting guest speaker that students can learn from and be inspired by. Past guests include Emmy winner and animal activist Jeff Corwin and The Apprentice’s Bill Rancic, just to name a few.
On Feb. 18, the Alliance for Sexual and Gender Diversity hosted the third annual production of their drag show The Exhibition. The charismatic Miss Ruby Fay returned as hostess for what would be her last show because of her alter ego’s impending graduation.
One of Georgia State’s longest running fraternities, Alpha Epsilon Pi, has undergone a necessary rebirth over the past few years. “It’s been a learning experience,” said Jonny Silberman, president of Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi). “Many people don’t know that Alpha Pi is one of Georgia State’s oldest fraternities.
Ask anyone on the fourth floor of the Student Center and chances are they will know sophomore Jonny Silberman. Whether he is working at the campus events office or hanging out with his fraternity brothers, he is a familiar face to many. You will also find rather quickly that he’s eager to lend a helping hand or simply engage in friendly banter.
